“Success is not when you’ve found a life without struggle; it’s when you’ve found one worth struggling for.”
When I was a kid I had a DVR. When I watched cartoons, I remember I would rewind, pause, and examine the drawings frame by frame. I’d do my best to redraw some of my favorite frames. My oldest sketchbook (actually a spiral notebook) is filled with attempts at drawing my favorite cartoons and in all of the unique styles they were presented in. The colorful stylings of my cartoons, comics, and video-games stuck with me. And they cover my art and design to this day. I am as much an illustrator as I am a designer and I intersect the two wherever I can, attempting to capture the childlike idealism inherent in those works, with heavy strokes and linework, as well as simple and fun iconography with added flair. Working with typography helps me bring everything together into a package that is both tidy and whimsical.
